Southwest Small Business Development Center


The Southwest Small Business Development Center (SW SBDC) is a joint venture of federal, state and the private sector.  This includes the United States Small Business Administration (SBA), Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) and Southwest Minnesota State University (SMSU.)

In addition, numerous counties and the private sector provide funding to the SBDC program.  It is through the generosity of our partners that SBDC services are provided at no cost to the small businesses in southwest Minnesota SBDCs provide the expertise and guidance that every small business owner needs to flourish in today’s competitive economy:

  • Services for existing businesses
  • Services for start-ups
  • Training workshops and seminars, tailored to meet the needs of the business community
  • Professional, confidential consulting

The SW SBDC is located in Marshall on the SMSU campus.  The SW SBDC serves 18 counties in the southwest portion of the state.  The SW SBDC holds regular office hours in Hutchinson every Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Hutchinson City Center, located at 111 Hassan St. SE.  We encourage you to schedule an appointment, though walk-ins are accepted.
