Industrial Park 100% Complete

Project Summary

The project is to establish a new fully served municipal industrial park with installation of public infrastructure (city water, sanitary sewer and streets). In addition, the EDA wrote and is administering state and federal grants to help defray a portion of the $2.4 million infrastructure cost.

“Energy Park” is now 100% complete. This summer Industrial Boulevard between Michigan Street and Impressions, Inc. was reconstructed and a second “lift” of bituminous was added to both Hackbarth Street and Benjamin Avenue in the new Industrial Park. Also, water and sewer service was extended to a 3.09 acre lot in the southwest corner of the industrial park, making it ready for development.

Next Steps:

The EDA is in the process of closing out the federal EDA grant so the remaining $238,955 can be collected by the city. Also, the EDA will work on closing out the State of Minnesota “Business Development Public Infrastructure” grant and pull in that $250,000.

Customer Elation to add 30 jobs

Customer Elation, an in-bound customer service center, is planning to add 60 new jobs between now and Christmas. With approximately 150 employees on staff here in Hutchinson, the company continues to experience rapid growth and needs to ramp up its workforce to meet increasing demand. Earlier this month, the company completed the north half of its 22,200 square foot call center facility, adding cubicles, computers and phone systems. In addition, the company added 70 parking stalls earlier this summer to accommodate its ever growing workforce.
